Description
THE SARDINE FORK
A sardine fork, you can also call it a sardine server or sardine lifter, is a special piece of cutlery that is used to remove sardines from a tin. Back in the last century, sardine forks were made by a great many smaller workshops and renowned cutlery-makers, but in recent decades they have almost faded into obscurity.
In 2023, we teamed up with Hanau-based silversmith Martin Hardt to produce a handmade, limited first edition of 50 sardine forks to bring this object of dining culture back onto the tables of those who enjoy sardines. After the limited first edition, we will produce the sardine fork in regular annual editions and include it in our range.
The sardine fork consists of a handle made of 925 sterling silver riveted onto a stainless-steel scoop, which is the part used to extract the sardines from the tin. The square-profile handle has been marked with silver stamps, the so-called hallmarks, so that even in a hundred years it will be possible to attribute it to the place and date of manufacture, as well as the silversmith.
Our sardine fork combines craftsmanship and functionality with reduced, purist design. The sardine fork comes in a high-quality slipcover box made of black cardboard, blind-embossed to emphasize its exclusivity. It is perfectly suited for a stylish gift or as a place to store this unique tool.
