Flor de Sal is comprised of the newly formed crystals of salt that float on the surface of salt pans before falling to the bottom. It hails from hectares of salt marshes in the Castro Marim Nature Reserve, in the Algarve, Portugal. This hand-harvested, sun-dried sea salt has fewer impurities and a greater variety of minerals and micro nutrients than mechanical salt. It crumbles at a touch and melts on the tongue.
