Description
This extra virgin olive oil from Puglia is produced entirely from Coratina olives. It is defined by a high antioxidant count and a robust, peppery profile characteristic of the region.
Craft & Origin
Frantoio Scisci is located in Monopoli, where the family manages groves of ancient and young olive trees. The Coratina variety is native to northern Puglia and is known for its resilience and chemical stability. Scisci harvests the fruit early and mills within hours using a temperature controlled, 2-phase extraction to capture the maximum amount of naturally occurring antioxidants and polyphenols within the olives. This technical process preserves the intense green character and regional integrity associated with Pugliese agriculture.
Flavor & Texture
On the nose you will find notes of balsamic, arugula, fresh cut grass, almonds, and black pepper. On the palate, artichoke, chicory, and lettuce. This is a powerful olive oil with a pleasant spiciness and pungency.
How to Use
Finish hearty legume soups, grilled red meats, and porcini mushrooms.
Why We Like It
